C.A.R.E. Information

The Cedar Area Refugee Effort (C.A.R.E.) was formed in early December, 2015 with the objective of sponsoring a refugee family. The group works through St. Philip Anglican Church. It is linked to the Anglican Diocese of British Columbia which is the sponsorship agreement holder with the Government of Canada. A steering committee (the "core group") was formed, followed by successfully raising the necessary funds to support the family for 12 months. C.A.R.E. joined with two other groups In February, 2016 to bring the married adult children of the Syrian al Mansour family (who were already here) to reunite the entire family. The family we are supporting, including parents and two children, arrived in Nanaimo on September 26, 2017. The work now is to assist them to recover from their time as refugees in Lebanon and to successfully integrate into west coast Canadian life.
