Never before have we had such a world wide response to disease that threatens the well-being of so many. The responses may vary in detail but they are all aimed at stopping the spread of the Corona Virus (COVID-19) which can be deadly to our most vulnerable.
Many Anglican Dioceses across the nation are closing their doors temporarily for 2 months as of today to prevent the spread of the Corona Virus through our churches. Our Diocese of BC have followed suit.
What does this mean for us? We are closing our church facilities BUT NOT our hearts and minds. We will continue to worship and pray, we will continue to care for each other and provide ministry to those around us just not in our building.
All Church gatherings, meetings, and groups including rentals will stop immediately. Only Church staff will have access to the buildings. We have had special consideration from the Synod office to provide food for those in need on Wednesdays with a modified method of distribution ensuring that people keep physical distance and minimize the spread of the virus.
The early church was under political persecution but still met and worshiped in hiding. Today we will meet not in hiding but at a physical distance. You can be assured Rev. Cindy and myself, the wardens and other parish leadership are exploring ways to keep connected to God and each other.
Watch your email boxes for more frequent CONNECTIONS. We will touch base with everyone by phone over the next few days. Please don't hesitate to email or phone us is there is anything you need or if you just want to talk.
